Featured Style: Traditional Side Part
The Side Part is a timeless classic men’s hair style.
The bread and butter of the barbershop, a traditional side part is hard to beat.
Check out this example of the Traditional Side Part cut by Uppercut Deluxe Ambassador Chris Brownless, owner of North West Barber Co, worn by the handsome man Skeggsy, who is charge of Queens Dock Barbershop. Chris has dressed this side part with the perfect pairing of Deluxe Pomade.
A well-cut Side Part is a relatively versatile style that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
For the more polished look, opt for Deluxe Pomade. Deluxe Pomade gives strong hold with a high shine, meaning your look will be locked in all day long and you will be sure to impress.
If you are wanting a more casual finish, go for Matte Pomade. Matte Pomade offers a completely dry finish and a medium hold, leaving hair looking soft and natural.
HOW TO STYLE A TRADITIONAL SIDE PART
Getting the hang of styling your Side Part might take a little bit of getting used to, but once you have the hang of it, it will take no time at all.
First things first, prep your hair. It’s much easier to style hair that has been freshly washed. Before styling, we always recommend a full wash cycle using Uppercut Deluxe Shampoo followed with Conditioner. If you can’t get around to washing your hair, dampen it down to get rid of any bed or hat hair and give it a gentle towel dry.
Next, take your CT9 Styling Comb and work it through your hair, removing any tangles. Begin to work your hair into the overall desired shape, finding your part as you work.
Take a generous scoop of Deluxe Pomade, spreading it thoroughly across your hands. Following the part line, gently use your fingertips to ‘split’ the part. Your aim here is to define the part line and apply the product to where it will be needed most.
Once you can clearly see your part line, begin to run your hands through your hair, following the direction you’ve combed it in.
Your hair should now be clearly parted, with product spread through the bulk of it. The next step is establishing your fringe.
With the remaining product on your hands, run your hand through your fringe.
Now, take your CT9 Styling Comb. First, comb down the short side. Next, comb your hair on the long side across your head. Work the comb around your head, tidying up the crown.
Finally, comb your fringe backwards at an angle.
And there you have it, the perfect Traditional Side Part.
