The key to nailing this cut lies in maintaining length on top and ‘tucking’ the sides to “maintain shape and create a nice flow”, Denny highlights. Working from one side to the other, sectioning off the top and de-bulking the sides to define the shape.
Relying on tried-and-tested barbering techniques “there’s a few ways you can shape the sides; you can do a scissor cut but I personally think clipper over comb gives a softer finish, it’s more efficient and gives you creative control”, Denny states. Finish with a low taper at the back before tackling the top.
Remember maintaining length on top is key, in this case trimming the edges before ‘point-cutting’ heavier sections to remove bulk and add texture.
Once the cut is dialed, it’s on to styling. Apply a generous amount of Clay Spray to damp hair to give more control while blow-drying. Attach a nozzle to your hair dryer that directs airflow and style using a Vent Brush or Quiff Roller to add volume. Finish using a Rake Comb to emphasize texture.
