How would you describe your shop’s vibe?

You can’t have the word “Lounge” in your shops name without being laid back, right? SBL is a pretty chill shop.  For a big part of my life, I was a musician and in many forms an artist.  With that said,  I’d have to say I think that’s the feel it has.  From former graffiti writers, tattoo artists and local musicians all the art on the wall is done by friends and local artists.   Music is usually playing, people are talking, laughing, or debating why Minnesota teams choke in the playoffs.  All three of my barbers grew up South Minneapolis, so we are always reminiscing about this and that.   I tried to bring all the things I love into the place I cut hair daily and I truly love being at this shop and believe our clients do too.

What’s the most popular cut in the shop at the moment?

Skin fade,  hard part comb over or slick back on the top.

Who is the favourite artist to spin in the shop?

I’m an old school hip hop head so a lot of the time you’ll hear Tribe called Quest, De La Soul, Wu-tang, Outkast, The Roots, etc.

This month with the release of the new Run The Jewels 4 I’d have to say it’s been in pretty heavy rotation.

What’s the best tip for someone visiting the area?

If people laugh and giggle when you tell them where you live say Shh…   - Atmosphere

What the best advice for clients before walking in?

I’m going to switch it up and give advice before leaving and that would be to book your next appointment (we are generally booked out for weeks).

What is your favourite shop (other than your own)?

 Saints Coast, no question. Talented barbers, cool-looking shop, and the owner is a good dude. I have to give a shout out to my buddy Pat over at Freshly Cut, too.
