Barbers for Baja 2023
Barbers for Baja started from a humble idea from barber Matt Schnitzer and his wife Jesse, a way to stoke out some kids at their favorite holiday destination.
Reaching out to the customers of the Kings Club Barbershop in Dana Point, Matt and Jesse organized a toy drive. The response was overwhelming and in less than 30 days Matt had a sprinter van loaded to the brim with toys and $7k worth of donations, safe to say he knew he was onto something.
While Matt was stoked on the response, but he knew he could take things a step further and try to make a real impact on some people’s lives.
In the past year, Barbers for Baja has kicked it up a gear, focusing its fundraising efforts on raising $50k to provide food, education and medical supplies for La Mision, San Vicente and San Juanico, three communities in need.
Putting his own spin on the usual fundraiser, Matt has put together gift boxes with contributions form Stussy, Stance socks and your favorite grooming supply company, Uppercut Deluxe.
But he hasn’t stopped there! Matt has rallied buddies from the barbering community to spread the message far and wide.
