Texturcreme

I was looking for a styling product for my medium-long hair. Uppercut had consistently great reviews online, with many users praising the texture and hold. Based on that, I ordered Texture Cream, Matt Pomade, Featherweight, and the shampoo + conditioner — all without smelling them first. Big mistake for me.

I'd figured that if the scents were off-putting, that would have shown up in customer reviews. Turns out it's just very much a personal preference thing, and mine (and, more importantly, my wife's) didn't align with what Uppercut are going for.

Here's how each one landed:

Texture Cream — Actually a solid product. Good feel, nice texture, easy to work with. But the scent? It genuinely smells like I've been smoking cigarettes. My wife says she finds it really unattractive, which pretty much killed it for me. I'd keep using it if not for the smell.

Matt Pomade — Smells like I've bought a strong iced coffee and tipped it on my head.

Featherweight — Smells like I've taken a lemonade icy pole, let it melt, then poured it over my hair.

Shampoo & Conditioner — The scents on these were less offensive, but the products themselves didn't do much for me either.

I'm sure plenty of people love these scents — taste is subjective and Uppercut clearly has a loyal following. But if you're at all scent-sensitive (or need to pass the spouse test), I'd strongly recommend finding a way to smell these in person before committing to a bulk order.
