How would you describe your shop’s vibe?
Modern traditional working class shop with old school punk, hardcore, metal, and hip hop coming through the sound system.
What’s the most popular cut in the shop at the moment?
The classics never go out of style, but if I had to pick one, it would be skin fades of any variety.
Tell us something we don’t know about Uppercut Deluxe products?
They are hands down the most concentrated, longest lasting hair products I’ve ever used, and the Easy Hold offers a restorative deep conditioning treatment to dry, brittle hair.
What’s the favourite Uppercut Deluxe products?
My favorite are Easy Hold, Deluxe Pomade, and the heavy Matte Clay is the strongest holding natural looking product I’ve ever seen.
Who is the favourite artist to spin in the shop?
The Clash / Helmet / Fugazi / Wu Tang
What product do you use the most of?
Deluxe Pomade. Can’t go wrong with a strong water based that still lets the hair bend and breathe a bit.
What’s the shop’s favourite style to cut?
An even all over with no line-up. But seriously, we don’t discriminate and enjoy the variety that comes through the door so you’re not a one trick barber robot pony all day.
What’s the best tip for someone visiting the area?
Drive slow through The Milk District, the neighborhood of Orlando that the shop is in. It is stacked with bars, restaurants, coffee shops, tattoo shops, parks, gyms, carved out of all these old buildings in a historic district that was an Army base neighborhood in the 50’s.
Who is the shop’s biggest barbering influence?
The haircuts and styles of my favorite bands from when I was in high school, like CIV, Face to Face, Social Distortion, Refused, Pegboy, Jawbox, mixed with a local legend barber here in town named Elias (E) who has cut literally every big name rapper that’s ever been to Orlando who back in the 90’s had hands down the smoothest tapers, fades, and most crisp line-ups I had ever seen. I wanted to be punk rock E when I was a kid. We still talk to this day.
What is your favourite shop?
Shane’s, Lucky’s, Pig Barber, Syndicate, MJ Solofa’s, East End, and Central Oak.
